Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of content on Orleans County Criminal History. Continued use means acceptance of all terms stated here. Anyone who does not agree must stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not connected with a local, state, or federal government body. It and its advertising partners do not offer a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource identifies criminal-record channels in Orleans County, New York. It is neither a private investigation firm nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government affiliation. It does not store official criminal records, obtain records for users, perform official checks, or submit documents for anyone.

Its role is to identify Orleans County custodians, including the sheriff, criminal courts, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Optional third-party tools may also support personal research.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the site is conditioned on avoiding the following conduct:

  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools against the pages
  • Violate any applicable federal, state, or local law
  • Stalk, threaten, or harass a person with information found here
  • Rely on site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into systems or restricted areas
  • Disrupt performance or interfere with another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use information from these pages or a linked tool to stalk, intimidate, harass, threaten, or discriminate against another person. New York Correction Law Article 6-C controls use of New York State Sex Offender Registry information, and misuse against a registrant or family member may be criminal. Registry disclosure serves public safety, not vigilantism, blacklisting, or unlawful discrimination.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create credit reports, background checks, or consumer reports. Our advertising partners and this site do not provide tools designed to evaluate applicants, renters, insurance risk, or creditworthiness. Data found here or through a linked tool may not be used to:

  • Set insurance premiums or assess creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other purpose regulated by the FCRA

A lawful regulated check must come from the appropriate official New York channel or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Content is informational and is not legal advice. General descriptions of Orleans County records cannot determine how a charge, warrant, conviction, or record-sealing rule applies to one matter. A licensed New York attorney should answer that question.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are supplied "as is." No guarantee is made that:

  • Partner search results are complete or correct
  • Information remains accurate, current, or complete
  • Pages contain no error, bug, or security weakness
  • The service remains available without interruption

Criminal records change as charges are filed, resolved, corrected, or sealed. Gaps and delays can occur. Nothing published here is an official statement from a court, sheriff, or public agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to courts, sheriff pages, state agencies, legal resources, and outside search services. Those destinations are beyond our control. We are not responsible for their content, availability, charges, or data practices, and users should review their terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Orleans County Criminal History or its content partners. Copying, distribution, modification, or derivative use requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for damage arising from use of the site, including reliance on content or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, actions, and demands caused by your use of the site or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

New York law governs these terms, including applicable consumer-protection rules. Public Officers Law Article 6 governs FOIL requests to public agencies, and Executive Law §837 controls DCJS criminal-history dissemination. Any dispute related to use of this private site must be brought in a court located in New York.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A revision takes effect when the new version is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is ruled invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected provision will be adjusted only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
